BOZ Group, specializing in metal processing, has undergone a significant technological upgrade with the help of Interstellar to realize the transition to a smart factory. This includes replacing servers, designing a virtual environment, and automating the production line.
BOZ Group is a leading company in Dutch metal industry, specializing in sheet metal processing and engineering. With its approximate 95 employees, the company focuses on the entire production process from design to assembly. BOZ Group has been a customer of Interstellar since 2015.
Interstellar advises us on which technology we buy today will still be up-to-date in five years. That is invaluable to us.

The challenge for BOZ lay in modernizing production facilities to increase efficiency and become future-proof. The existing infrastructure no longer met the requirements of modern production technologies.
Becoming a smart factory, which according to Corné van Opdorp (general & commercial director of BOZ Group) is necessary to support the entire sheet metal processing process, doesn’t happen overnight. Automation in the factory is very important in this. Van Opdorp: “Interstellar plays an important role in this. They advise us on which technology we buy today will still be up-to-date in five years. That is invaluable to us.”
Interstellar has replaced all of BOZ Group’s servers and created an advanced virtual environment. This was part of the preparation for complete automation of the factory, including interactive screens at each machine and real-time data transmission.
“What Interstellar does really well,” says Van Opdorp, “is separating the project in phases. When a phase is delivered, it is first tested. That result is fed back, any points for improvement are implemented, and only then is the phase released and the next step can be taken.” This way, a project is delivered to the complete satisfaction of the client, and expectations are also met.
The implementation resulted in a more efficient production process and significant cost savings. Employees no longer need to walk to terminals to retrieve data, resulting in time savings. Van Opdorp: “Everything that has been delivered works fine.”
The collaboration with Interstellar has not only given BOZ Group a technological edge, but also laid the foundation for further innovations within their production process. Future plans include further expansion of automation technologies to continue increasing efficiency and productivity.
Peter Quist, internal system administrator at BOZ Group, acknowledges the satisfaction with Interstellar: “The interaction with Interstellar is pleasant and the engineers are well educated. They act in a very customer-oriented manner.”
